CALL FOR PROPOSALS, TOPICS AND SPEAKERS

SIETAR Houston is seeking proposals for the 2008 Program Year. Below, please find Proposal Guidelines and information on how to submit a proposal.

We are also seeking suggestions for topics for future meetings and professional development workshops. If you have an idea for a future meeting or workshop that may be of interest to SIETAR Houston members please let us know.

Additionally, if you know of speakers who could deliver a presentation of interest to our members, please send us your suggestion. Please include the person's name and contact information.

Your contributions to our program planning will help us to continue to grow and to provide intercultural programming that is valuable to our membership and the community as a whole.

PROPOSAL GUIDELINES:

SIETAR Houston welcomes sessions that:

• explore new directions in the intercultural field;
• explore important ideas, issues and practices in the intercultural field;
• take a critical look at training and educational programs that are designed to increase intercultural effectiveness and understanding;
• consider important world events and how an intercultural approach contributes to understanding and/or resolution;
• explore the application of intercultural practices within corporations and institutions and their impact upon organizational effectiveness;
• share new insights, new training strategies and new research findings;
• address ways intercultural concepts can be applied to education, training and research.

PRESENTATION PROPOSAL FORMAT:

The following guidelines will assist you in completing and submitting a proposal.

I. CONTACT INFORMATION:

• Provide name, address, telephone/fax, and email address

II. PROPOSED PRESENTATION TITLE:

III. YOUR PREFERRED MONTH TO DELIVER THE PRESENTATION:

• Program year runs from September through June.

IV. PRESENTATION OBJECTIVES AND DETAILED DESCRIPTION:

• Present a concise, one page description of the presentation, main points or key content; the learning goals -- what participants can expect to learn. Please indicate if handouts and/or an interactive exercise will be used.

V. SHORT BIO OF PRESENTER:

• Provide name, address, telephone/fax, e-mail address, and a biographical summary of one page or less (experience, education, and expertise in the topic being proposed)

VI. EQUIPMENT AND SUPPORT NEEDS:

• Please specify the equipment you will need and describe special seating arrangements.

VII. BRIEF SESSION WRITE-UP FOR THE PROGRAM SCHEDULE:

• This description will be used to publicize your program to our members and the general public. Space limitations permit a maximum of 50 words.
